Description
This is the pile liner component of the M47 Parka Type Overcoat, which was developed as a winter fighting garment from painful experience acquired during WW2 European Theater, particularly during the winter of 1944-45 (Battle of the Bulge). Although the M47 was soon followed by the M48, and then the M51, it remained in production through 1951 into 1952 and was widely used by Army, Air Force, and Marines. It was probably also issued to Navy Seabees from Marine Corps stock. This particular liner was acquired snapped into a Large size M47 which was produced on contract for USAF in 1951; other than size tag shown, there are no other labels in this liner. I decided to list it for sale separately due to the size mismatch, in the event somebody needs it for a size XL M47 outershell which is lacking the liner, but it does fit properly into the Large size M47. Rarely seen or offered without the coat; rare XL size.Armpit to armpit measured across back to each seam only: 26 inches.
If measured across the front the above measurement would be 2 inches longer.
Shoulder to shoulder: 19 inches
Top of outer sleeve to edge of wool sleeve (does not include knit cuff) 23 inches.
Shipping cost listed below includes insurance for purchase price through USPS, not eBay's cut-rate third party contractor, which is less convenient to use if you need to file a claim.
