You don't see a lot of these around and when you do they're expensive. This is a doll made by Uneeda that has a radio receiver built into her tummy, who comes with her own pink record player that will play records the traditional way through the speaker in the player, OR flip the switch and whatever you play comes out of the doll! Yup, the record player contains a small transmitter that transmits to the radio receiver built into the doll. The doll is in gently played with condition, with all her clothes intact and even both shoes and socks. Her eyes go to sleep when you lay her down, her hair isn't all bunged up by little girls messing with it. I have no idea if her radio receiver works, and she requires one of those old school round 9V batteries, although you could connect a modern square battery but it might not snap into her tummy. The record player will need restoration. When I picked this up a few years ago it was my intention to restore the electronics but I never got to it, and even if I do finally get to it I don't have room to display her and she'd wind up back in storage. The motor for the record player runs and the platter spins but the motor bearings are LOUD, so the motor at a minimum needs to be cleaned and lubricated, possibly bearings, possibly a new motor (it's a standard old record player motor you could salvage one from any of thousands of other era record players). The amplifier warms up and hums.. so it needs filter capacitors at the minimum. This is why I listed it in record players rather than in the Uneeda Dolls group -- if you want it to work you'll need to do some electronic restoration. The white handle which was plastic is missing, but the hinges and latch are in good shape and it shows some light wear and dirt. She also comes with her own record where she introduces herself, and talks and plays with her human friend. The record has a scuff on one side in the last track but other wise plays fine. The cover shows wear, etc. The dolls came in blonde or brunette, this one is a brunette. Now, it is my intention to ship her and her player in her original box, which is showing about 60 years of storage wear, and writing on the box, showing which way the doll fits in and the fact that this was Gretchen's doll. So, the doll and the player fit into the box, and then this original box will be packed inside another box for shipping (I don't believe the original box is really designed to double as a shipping box). So this makes a pretty big package that will weigh 18-20 pounds ready to ship and will be oversized so shipping won't be cheap - but the shipping quoted with this listing will be the actual shipping cost to your location. I will gladly ship overseas however a buyer outside of the USA will NOT receive the original box as it will make a package that is likely too large for overseas shipping. Remember, the record player needs repair and will not play records as is. This is sold as is, and with NO warranty and no returns. It displays nicely as is, but can certainly be brought up to operational condition by someone familiar with repairing basic record players from the era.
