Don't Miss This One...!!
The iconic US Army field jacket for WWII and Korea was the M-1943, Jacket, Field. It had some built in flaws (the cuffs always frayed after a time), but in spite of that the M-1943 used extensively throughout the WWII in every theater and for many years after.
The successor to the M-1943, and nearly identical to it, was the M-1950 field jacket developed as the result of hard lessons learned during WWII and it was used during the beginning months of the Korean War along with the M-1943, but was quickly replaced
during the second year of the war
by the M-1951. Therefore M-1950s are somewhat rare because they were only used for a year or two before and after the beginning of the Korean war. The major differences between the M-1943 and the M-1950 were the change to a "shell" type of jacket to which a liner could be added for warmth. The M-1943 had a slightly thicker non-removable lining that made it harder to dry the jacket out when it got wet from water or sweat. Buttons were added inside the front opening of the jacket to allow the liner to be quickly buttoned in. The M-1950 utilized the M-1943 attachable hood and often had the same issue with fraying on the ends of the cuffs that the M-1943 had.
The jacket is in Very Good+ to near Fine condition and has a very few small flaws. The shell has several small frayed spots (see photos). The lining is near excellent shape! There is no real evidence of wear on the cuffs (photo 6).... this is a good thing in M-1950s that saw action. All tags and buttons are present. The inside drawstring is in excellent condition at one end with the factory not remaining and the other end has some fraying. (see last photo).
The contract date is unknown, but has to be from July 1949 though the end of 1950 and the manufacturer is unmarked. It features the M-1943's button down front closure with interior flap button-down front pockets. The outer shell is probably 50% cotton and 50% nylon sateen. The lining is the same material.
Note:
There are insignia "ghosts" that look to be master sergeant or first sergeant rank (photo 5). I did not remove the rank insignia. The cuffs exhibit none of the fraying that was typical of these field jackets! There no serious flaws other than the contract date part of the white cloth label is missing (photo 2), probably due to where the hang loop is relative to the tag.
The hidden button on the right front pocket is cracked in half, but still holds to its stitching
(see last photo)
. The jacket does need to be gone over with a steam iron as it has very slight wrinkles from being stored in a military trunk for many years.

Thank You to my, good, former customers in Mexico
- Sorry for any inconvenience..!!
eBay's fees are very expensive and you can help me keep costs down by giving top numbers in detailed seller ratings (DSRs). If you feel there is a problem just let me know before you leave feedback so I have a chance to resolve any issue. NM sales tax will be charged to New Mexico residents only.
I will gladly combine on the shipping but please WAIT to pay so I can easily combine your shipping total. I will happily sell overseas, but I insist (as does eBay) on shipping with a tracking number of some sort via priority or express.
I will not declare a lower amount on the customs form! Please do not ask me to do so.
I
will
not
be responsible for thefts on overseas purchases, especially if the item's tracking shows it entered the customs process in the destination country!
I welcome buyers from all over the world. Thank you for looking!
